Enno Poppe

Enno Poppe studied composition and conducting at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, with further technological studies at the Technische Universität in Berlin and the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe. Since 1998 he has been the conductor and music director for ensemble mosaik in Berlin, and he has also taught at several institutions. He won the Boris Blacher Prize in 1998 and the Ernst von Siemens Composers’ Prize in 2001, and his opera Arbeit Nahrung Wohnung (Work, Nourishment, Lodging) was premiered at the Munich Biennale in 2008. His works have been performed by the JACK Quartet, Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, the Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg, among many others.
