Hild Sofie Tafjord
Hild Sofie Tafjord (born Jan.4th 1974 in ålesund, Norway) plays frenchorn and electronic instruments, she is an improviser and composer. She finished her jazz studies at The Norwegian State Academy of Music In Oslo In 2000.
Tafjord is active as a soloist and in her main groups SPUNK, Lemur and Zeitkratzer.
She has collaborated with musicians and artists like Fred Frith, Lotta Melin, Ikue Mori, Zeena Parkins, Lotte Anker, Odd Johan Fritzoe, a.o, and in numerous other projects like Trondheim Jazzorkester, Trinacria, SEKSTETT, Unni Løvlid ensemble.
Tafjord has two solo albums, Kama (Pica Disk) and Breathing (+3db) and she has participated on more than 50 recordings on labels such as Rune Grammofon, ECM, Universal, Indie Recordings, Jazzland, Asphodel a.o.
Tafjord has made music for dance, theater, film, installations, sculptures, done site specific concerts, and she has often worked with visual arts in connection to her concerts.
Since 1995 Tafjord has toured worldwide and has performed at places like Berliner Festspiele/Maerzmusik, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Roma Europa Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Tectonics Reikavik, Vancouver jazz festival, London Jazz festival, The Nordic House in the Faroe Islands, ISSUE Project Room, El Nico Aural, Ninliho Gallery Foshan,Victoriaville, Inferno, Steiricher Herbst, Taktlos, Fundacio Joan Miro in Barcelona, and many more.
